4 WELLNESS TIPS TO RELAX YOUR MIND.

WELLNESS TIPS TO RELAX YOUR MIND

Hi hi hi! We’re discussing wellness on the blog today. More specifically, 4 wellness tips to relax your mind. We live in a world where our minds are constantly being stimulated by television, our phones, the news, etc. It’s important that we relax our mins sometimes, and just shut off.

I have been wanting to write this post for a while, because I feel like we all need a reminder once in a while. We lead such busy lives, that the second we come home from work, our brains are programmed to continue working.

When I get home from work, instead of relaxing my mind, I turn the TV on and watch the news, or I’m scrolling through Instagram, or opening up my laptop to do some blog work. I never just shut off. And a lot of us are like that.

We need to take a wellness break and relax our minds.

Let’s jump into my 4 wellness tips on relaxing your minds.

WELLNESS TIPS TO RELAX YOUR MIND

1) Focus On The Here & Now:

In other words…live in the moment. For a second, stop thinking about tomorrow, or the future. I’m SO EFFIN guilty of doing this. Being an event planner can also really fuck this up for me. I’m CONSTANTLY thinking about the future. So, I have to actually catch myself doing that, and then STOP doing it. It’s hard. When we live in such a fast pace world, and things around us are constantly changing, we feel the need to always be ahead – ahead of the game at work and at life.

But, let’s stop and actually LIVE in the moment. I live mostly in the moment when I take walks in the summer. I’m pretty big on this. I can’t stand wasting away a beautifully warm day sitting indoors, binge-watching a show. I need to be out enjoying the weather. Andrew and I always find a good little trail to walk through. He’s usually flipping over tree barks to find snakes and…bugs or something. And as much as I want to Insta-story it ALL, I don’t. I mean, sometimes I do. But I really have to stop myself, and just relax my mind.

Take a moment to stop planning for the future, and forget about the past, and be aware of your surroundings. Feel the wind on your face, notice the sounds around you, and just be in the moment. I know it sounds weird, but you’ll actually feel peace. TRUST ME. I’m the biggest multi-tasker out there, and I know this sounds odd. But once you experience it, you’ll be so addicted to that feeling.

2) Connect With People & Have An Actual Conversation:

This is another thing that we don’t do much of. Connecting with people and having ACTUAL conversations. You know like, face to face? Not through text, or snapchat, or Instagram, or email. Like a true person to person conversation. I know, those are rare these days. Again, I’m TOTALLY guilty of this. Sometimes, when I deal with clients who want to chat over the phone…I think “why don’t you just email me?” So yea, I get it. Sometimes you’d rather just NOT deal with someone.

But connect with family, friends, and loved ones. Have conversations without distractions. Put the TV off, and keep your cell phone away. Share stories, laugh, and enjoy conversation together. We spend too much time talking to people over screens. Let’s try and have more face to face, REAL conversations.

Raise your hand up if you walk by someone daily and ask them “how are you?” without even thinking about what their response might actually be? I mean, again I’m totally guilty. I feel like we ALL are. We just need to make more of an effort to stop and have a real conversation instead of running away from them.

3) Deal With Stress:

Ugh, stress. I feel like we’ve covered this topic a few times on the blog. Because it’s an important one. Stress is inevitable. EVERYONE gets stressed out from time to time. Some people get it higher than others. I have to say, I’m not someone who gets stressed out easily. However, it doesn’t mean I don’t. It’s ALL in how you deal with it. Once you recognize what is stressing you out, you can avoid it or at least be better prepared for it.

Also, be aware of how you’re handling it. Because there are healthy and unhealthy ways of dealing with your stress, and obviously we want to deal with it in a healthy way. This doesn’t involve downing bottles of wine. Maybe a glass or two though. But really, figure out your way of dealing with it. Maybe it’s exercising, or cooking, or sitting in a silent room and meditating. Whatever it may be, figure it out. My way of dealing with stress is talking it out…To ANYONE that will listen. It’s usually my best friend, Victoria, throwing me some advice. She has had her share of many of my stresses, and got me through all of them. Thank God for BFFs.

4) Ask For Help:

Life is challenging and comes with TONS of bumps and road blocks along the way. And you don’t have to deal with shit on your own. ASK FOR HELP. I do it ALL the time. You’re not batman, or superman or whoever it is that conquers the world. You’re human and you deserve help when you need it. We all have egos and sometimes don’t want to ask for help. But the second you let down that ego, and just ask, you will be overwhelmed by the number of people that are actually willing to help you. Don’t struggle through life alone.

On another note, the weather has been amazing lately. I am finally able to bust out some of my spring/summer wear. Also – I’m so in backpacks these days. Anyone else? I just feel like they’re much more practical. And I’m not talking about those chunky ones from like elementary school. Anyway, totally into them.

Okay, so those are my wellness tips. What am I missing? How do you guys relax your mind? Any cool ideas that we can all use? Share in the comments.

Xx, kim

  1. It’s so important t realize when you need a little help and to be able to ask for it! Great post, and I love the outfit as well.

  2. I do contemplative prayer sometimes. It helps to learn how to rein in my mind. There’s actually an app that helps you do it. I struggle with being present in the moment and with people. Good reminder!
