GUYS – a couple weekends ago, Andrew and I were hosted at the Two Sisters Niagara on the Lake restaurant and winery. And I’m about to tell you ALL about it. If you love wine and good food, keep reading. This one’s for you.
Now, if you’ve ever been to Niagara on the Lake, you know that every winery is unique, and beautiful. There’s no doubt about that. I can honestly say that I’ve made my rounds and visited MANY wineries in the area. I really can’t get enough. Our family cottage is right in the middle, amongst ALL the wineries, so weekends spent there involve copious amounts of wine. ALWAYS. I mean, can you blame us?
Anyway, if you’ve been following me for a while, then you already know that Two Sisters Niagara on the Lake restaurant & winery is one of my absolute FAVOURITE wineries. It’s a stunning winery, with beautiful architecture, and the most incredible atmosphere. It almost does have that Napa Valley vibe if you ask me. (But better.)
And the wine. Oh, the wine. I mean, I can truly say their Riesling is the best I’ve ever had. And Andrew loves ALL their reds. We stop by for tastings every time we’re in Niagara, to be honest. I’m not usually someone that’ll go to the same place for tastings, but I always make an exception for Two Sisters.
This time on our visit, they decided to host us for a late lunch at their restaurant, Kitchen 76. We were seated in their back patio overlooking the winery. MAN, if there was one venue I’d like to get married at, it would be here. *hint hint* Andrew. As an event planner, my mind just goes CRAZY for beautiful spaces, you know? I automatically think of décor ideas, floral arrangements, table scapes, etc. It’s really just who I am.
Anyway, after tasting the food at Kitchen 76, I can only imagine how gorgeous one’s wedding would be over here. And they do, do weddings if anyone’s interested. I know I am…LOL.
They treated us to a 3 course meal with wine parings at every course.
I started with the Amaro Fogliami, which was an arugula salad with fresh pear, walnuts, gorgonzola cheese and a white balsamic dressing. This was paired with their Riesling wine. SO GOOD. The salad alone was very filling! Andrew had the Baccala Montecato, which was a Venetian style salted cod served with puttanesca and garlic bread. The wine pairing for this one was the Sauvingnon Blanc.
My second course was the Salsicce wood oven pizza. This delicious pizza was made with their in-house tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sausage, (on half) roasted peppers, caramelized onions, and topped with parmigiano cheese. The wine pairing was the Cab Franc – and OMG, this pairing was heavenly! I normally wouldn’t do red wine with pizza, but mannn, this was a good one. Andrew had the Tagliatelle pasta for his main course, which was a no-brainer for him. When he sees pasta that’s got tiger shrimp in a white wine and garlic based sauce, he is ALL over that. This was paired with a Chardonnay. I basically ate half his pasta, because that white wine, garlic sauce was ON POINT.
Lastly, desert. We barely had any room left for desert, OR WINE for that matter.
But, we pushed through and I ordered the cheesecake – white chocolate and graham cracker, topped with raspberry coulis and fresh berries. The wine pairing was the Riesling Icewine, which was to die for! I only had a little bit, because I was so full at this point. Andrew had the Italian Sundae, which was a vanilla bean gelato, with crushed pistachio, whipped cream, and a hazelnut cookie. UGH. His pairing was the Cab Sauv Icewine, which was the perfect pairing for this kind of desert.
Honestly, their wine pairings were so on point, I couldn’t believe how good everything was. It made our meal THAT MUCH more outstanding. They really knew what they we’re doing with those pairings.
Our entire meal was made to perfection! We also met one of the sisters, Melissa, who was so lovely and hospitable. It’s always nice meeting the boss babes behind such large brands and businesses. These two sisters have definitely made a name for themselves. I’m already thinking of going back!
You guys must visit Two Sisters Niagara on the Lake restaurant & winery for lunch. The property and vineyard is BREATHTAKING! It will not disappoint. Trust me.
