Okay, many of you have asked me why I’m always so happy on Mondays. Today, we’re talking about the the Sunday scaries and Monday mood. You know, like that feeling you get Sunday nights and Monday morning, where you would rather just stay in bed, get coffee delivered to you, and lounge around, rather than get up and get to work?
That feeling.
We’ve ALL been there. Trust me, no one knows it more than I do.
Anyway, over the last few years, LOTS has happened in my life that’s been amazing, which has in turn, made me feel grateful for Mondays. Weird right?
Well, I want to share with you guys a few ways that I get over the Sunday scaries and into a good Monday mood.
Unplug For The Weekend.
DON’T check your work emails. Put that Blackberry away and actually enjoy the weekend. That’s what weekends are for. Time to unplug, unwind, and take a break. I need to work on this some more, because some work weeks are so jam packed, that I kind of neglect blogging, and have to actually catch up on the weekends. However, blogging is not so much work for me. I’m going to be very cliché and say, If you love what you do, you don’t have to work a day in your life…
You guys can totally roll your eyes now…(Read my post on Why I Started Blogging).
But really, it’s true. Blogging is my passion, so I actually find it relaxing to do it. And no, not all days are relaxing. It can also be stressful. Have you guys read the blog post on work/life balance? Check it out.
Pick Your Outfit Sunday Night.
YES. This is a must.
Nothing is worse than waking up at 6:30am having NOTHING to wear. And ladies, let’s be real. Our closet can be a big as Carrie Bradshaw’s, and we’d still ‘have nothing to wear!’ Amiright?! No one wants to start rummaging through their closets at 6:30am trying to find something to wear. It’s best to pick that out on Sunday night. One less thing to worry about. And don’t forget to pick out something cute. Something that says ‘Dress for Success.’
One thing I find helpful, is picking out an outfit that screams #bosslady. You kind of want to kick Monday in the ass, no? The best way, is to pick out an outfit that you feel extra confident in.
Like this OOTD for example. Loving the winter whites, greys, and blacks. This high neck jumper has all the feels. Cozy, trendy, chic, and sassy. I love pairing an over-sized jumper with a pencil skirt. I mean, we can’t get away with it for too long, as winter is FAST approaching. But, on a milder day, why not?
This lace-up pencil skirt is super comfy and can be worn in so many ways. If you’re not into the over-sized look, go with something a little more office-y? Think Mehgan Markle in Suits. So hot. Also, how gorggg is this grey tote? It’s a power-bag, duh. And SO cute for fall.
Make A List.
Lists are probably my favourite thing in the whole entire world! Dramatic much? YES. But they really help with the Sunday scaries and Monday mood. On Sunday night, I like to make a list of all the goals I’d like to accomplish by end of the day Monday. This could be anything from, picking up groceries, to getting a blog shoot done, editing photos, etc. Whatever you need to accomplish, write it down. When something is written down, psychologically, you somehow get it done. Make it a realistic list though.
Many people say, “the list is in my head.” Well, write it down. I promise you’ll actually get it done if it’s down on paper. And okay, if you’re thinking ‘how old school is she with paper?’ then you can type it out in ‘notes’ on your phone. I still love physical paper. Something very liberating about getting your thoughts/goals on paper.
Be Positive.
No one likes a Negative Nancy. NO ONE.
What do you love about your job? Write it down. Lol, I’m kidding. (Unless, you want to make more lists) But, seriously, not everyone loves everything about their jobs. But, I’m sure you’re happy about most things? Remind yourself what it is you love about your work. Maybe it’s the people you work with? Maybe it’s the rewarding side of it? Maybe it’s your boss? Or maybe it’s just the fact that it’s paying all the bill? Whatever it may be, be positive, and remind yourself why. Why you’re doing it every. single. day.
I'd say picking the outfit the day before is my life savior in the morning.
And about Mondays: get up, do your thing. it gets easier through the day 😀
