LIFE LATELY: MONTRÉAL FOR THE WEEKEND.

So, I spent the weekend with 15 girls for a bachelorette in Montréal. This basically meant, drinks on drinks…on drinks, blurry nights (and days) and overall just so much fun.

I haven’t been to Montréal in years, so I was very excited to spend a couple days with a few friends I love, and to celebrate a co-worker soon-to-be marriage, in style.

The city has SUCH character. Just walking the cobblestone streets, taking in the old architecture of the churches, and stopping at really cute cafés, was super inspiring. It’s honestly very refreshing (for a blogger) to clear your mind and experience something outside of the norm. It gives you a different perspective on things, life, relationships, etc. It’s important for me to get out and explore another space, from time to time. I mean, I think it’s important for all of us to do that once in a while.

If you were following me on Snapchat (kim-marquis) or Insta-stories, then you already know the commotion that we caused. Lots of dance parties and too much champagne.

But we also got a chance to explore Montréal, which was my personal favourite part of the trip. Old Montréal was absolutely stunning. It’s got that European feel to it, which takes me back to when I travelled to Barcelona, Portugal, and Paris. Downtown Old Montreal had such lovely restaurants lining the streets, and because it was SUCH great weather, patios were overflowing with people.

I also got to visit quite a few basilicas and cathedrals that were in old Montreal, especially the Notre Dame Basilica, which was stunning in every possible way. For someone whose faith is quite strong, it was very powerful to visit such beautiful churches. The detail and design that went into building these, is quite mind-blowing.

Okay, onto the fun stuff. If you’re going for a bachelorette party in Montréal, I highly recommend going to Mado. This is basically a night of ridiculous fun with drag shows. Trannies take the stage and KILL it with some crazy performances. They are hilarious, talented, and guaranteed to make you laugh. If you’ve never been to a drag show before, you’re in for some serious fun. Because trannies know how to party…duh. Also, $2.00 shots all night was DANGEROUS. The music was on point. Lots of Shania, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, and Britney….for obvious reasons. #Kweens

Another night was a club night. To be very honest, I feel kind of old at clubs these days. I used to “slay” at clubs when I was younger, but now that I’m 80, I prefer a lounge with overpriced drinks. LOL. It’s much more my scene. Thankfully, the music at Le Rouge was on point. It ended up being a super fun night. When you have enough drinks, anything you do with the right people, ends up being fun!

K, let’s talk brunch. GUYS, look no further when booking a brunch spot. Brasserie 701 is the perfect spot for a classy, beautiful, and delicious brunch. The vibes were everything!

Think high ceilings with detailed trims, chiffon lavender curtains, birdcage chandeliers, a white marble fireplace, black high tops, and really cute wait staff. It is everything you could ever want in a brunch spot, really. Also, their grapefruit mimosas were SO GOOD.
The menu was small but had all the classics. Classic with a twist, of course. I ordered two eggs of my choice with their homemade potatoes and a side of fruit. The perfect kind of food after a night of extensive drinking. The poached eggs were also delicious, and the presentation was very Instagrammable. Very on brand, guys. Highly recommend this spot.

Oh and for $30 you get unlimited mimosas. YES PLZ.

Overall, Montreal was a breath of fresh air. Having a change in scenery is just what I needed. I feel like I’ve come back more inspired, however slightly more damage done to my liver. Time to detox.

Have you guys been to Montréal? I feel like I need another trip there soon. I didn’t get to try many restaurants there…

What else is good? Share the good spots!

Okay, I’m off to detox with some lemon, cayenne-pepper water. Yummm.

I hope you guys had the BEST weekend.

Xo, kim

  1. Hello would you mind letting me know which webhost you’re using? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 completely different browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot quicker then most. Can you suggest a good hosting provider at a reasonable price? Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!
