Happy Thursday, friends!

MAN, I can’t believe it’s that time of year again….Lent. (Read last year’s post here.)

Yes, holler at me if you’re Catholic (or not) and give up something for Lent.

So, what is Lent? In the simplest terms, Lent is a season where Christians focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. The Lenten season is about 40 days and takes us right up to Easter. Which is when we can all go back to being sinners. HA. I joke, I joke.

During this time, Christians usually give up something as a sacrifice. It’s got to be something that’s challenging, of course. Last year, if you remember, I gave up the most challenging thing for me.

Don’t ask me how I did it, because I really don’t have the answer. I pushed through. That’s what I did. I didn’t cheat even one day. I was actually shocked I made it through…

This year, I thought long and hard.

So here’s what I’ve come up with:

1. Texting and driving. I KNOW I KNOW, I should’ve given this up a loooong time ago!

And believe me when I say, I don’t do it often. But sometimes, you think, ‘it’s just one quick text’ and then the other person responds to your ‘quick text’ and the next thing you know, you’re going back and forth having a long conversation while driving.

I hate myself for doing it. So, this Lent (and hopefully forever) I stop with the texting and driving.

Like, is something that important that it can’t wait till after? We’re talking about our life here. And other people’s lives. Let’s not put anyone in danger, and put that damn phone away. I’m going to physically put my phone in the back seat, so it’s not in my reach.

2. Yes, there’s a second thing I’m giving up. WINE.

Wait, what?!?!

On weekdays, only. LOL…….

I love my wine. Judge all you want, but there’s nothing more comforting than a big glass of red with dinner and your favourite show. Amiright??

But then, the bottle of red is open, and we ALL know you can’t keep a bottle of red wine open for too long, so why not pour that second glass. By the end of all this, you’ve had multiple glasses of wine ALL week. Is anyone else like this? I KNOW I’m not the only one.

So, for the season of Lent, I’m limiting myself to weekend drinking only.

As I’m reading this blog post back to myself, I’m thinking I sound like a crazy drunk. LOL I swear I’m not! I just like my wine…like everyone else.

Anyways, who else participates in giving something up for Lent? Weigh in! I love hearing what you guys are doing.

In other news, can we talk about this off-shoulder top I’m obsessing over? Cute right?

ANDDD, on sale.

I’m DYING for this cold weather to pass, so that I can start rocking some cute Spring wear. Anyone else?

Okay, I’m going to get into it with my new book! If you’re following on Snapchat (UN: kim-marquis)/ Insta, you already know that my book came in yesterday. So far I’m loving it. It’s called ‘The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck.” Get at me if you’ve read it. Apparently Mark Manson is a genius.

Okay, chat soon!

Xx, kim
