OK OK – I know you guys are all DYING to know about this CHIC-ASS, ON BRAND AS FUCK Bachelorette Brunch! Grab a glass of pink champagne or rosé and buckle in. Because, SO many cute ideas, and I’m about to spill the TEA.
So, my best friend Victoria, of a billion years (maybe 15 to be exact?), also known as The Chic Confidential photographer, is getting married and ‘best friend duties’ include throwing a bachelorette party.
Let me remind you that she only got engaged a few months ago and is getting married THIS MONTH. We’ve had less than 6 months to plan a wedding! You should pretty much hire us as your future wedding planners. Because we’re not only efficient, but we’re also fucking FAST. I’ve been eating, sleeping, and breathing wedding shit for the past 5 months.
Anyway, a little about my best friend before we get into her bach details: She’s an adorable 5’1 chick, conservative, funny, HATES being the centre of attention, is pretty much the most indecisive person I’ve ever met, and is one of the most important people in my life. We’ve been friends for over 15 years, talk on the phone almost every other day, and there’s no one who knows me better than she does. Like, really though.
So, her bach. If it were up to her, she wouldn’t even want one. Because like I said, she doesn’t care too much to be the centre of attention. So, I tired to keep this bach low key, obviously fun, and invite only a few of her closest girlfriends.
So, let’s get into this post on HOW to throw this super cute bachelorette party. I just feel like the whole club thing, penis straws, and tequila shots all night is a bit much for a 30-year old. Like, we have no time for hangovers. We have a wedding to plan, you know? LOL. No judgment though, it just wasn’t her thing.
Let’s get specific, shall we?
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS SASSY, CUTE, BACH:
PICK A CUTE LOCATION
Location is key. I did a lot of research before picking one. I knew I wanted to do a brunch/lunch thing, because a lot of the ladies that were coming were young moms and would get the time in the afternoon to leave the babies at home. I looked at A LOT of different places and menus. Some things to keep in mind when booking a place:
- Do they accommodate the number of people you’re having?
- Do they have a little private area for you and your girlfriends?
- Do they allow décor? Balloons, florals, etc?
- Do they do separate bills?
- Do they have a time limit on how long you can be there for?
When calling around, make sure to ask those questions. When I found Café CanCan in Toronto, I fell in love with the place! It was small, intimate, had a really great menu, and when I asked all those questions, they seemed to be able to accommodate everything. The vibe was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Once I selected the venue, next up was the theme. Which came quite easily…
Our theme ended up being PINK FLAMINGO. LOL. I don’t know if that’s an actual theme, but like, who cares? You can make it whatever you want. And because it was summer and the place was pink with pastel-y colours, I went with that. Pick a theme that’s fun and cute for your girlfriends. Everyone LOVES a themed party. I also went with pink because Victoria’s wedding colours are blush pink. Kinda worked out well.
ADULT GIFT BAGS
Once we had a theme picked out, I knew I wanted everyone to leave with an adult goodie bag. Again, everyone LOVES gifts, so why not? Find cute little gift bags, and stuff them with goodies you think everyone would like. Make them practical because no one likes shit they can’t use. Because most of the girls were moms, I kind of kept that in mind. If you go to Chapters, they have the CUTEST things that you can stuff your goodie bags with. I got some bath stuff, lipsticks, pink fridge magnets, and tea. All things that can be used and won’t go in the trash.
Other things you can put in:
- Eye shadows
- Lip balms
- Hand creams
- Cute pens
- Nail polish
I also happen to find pink floral gift bags and flamingo printed tissue paper at Chapters. I swear they have EVERYTHING.
DRESS CODE IN EFFECT
Something you can do to enhance your theme is get the girls to wear a certain colour or print. Again, because our theme was Pink Flamingo, I had the girls wear pink. Any shade! We had the bride wear white, and threw on a cute “BRIDE” sash over-top. Whatever you think works, do it. Maybe everyone wears a denim jacket, or black and white, or a printed shirt of some sort. Anything goes really! You can even do a hat themed party, where everyone wears a different one. I’m into it. Mine hat would be so obnoxious. LOL.
A FOIL BALLOON
Because if you don’t include a foil balloon that says “LOVE”, did you even have a bachelorette party?? I think not. Except I didn’t do foil, and mine didn’t say LOVE. BUTTT….I found a clear pink one, which I thought went perfectly with our theme, and instead of it saying “love,” it said “party”. Much more fitting I would say. Balloons also just make your party a little more Instagrammy.
Another little touch to the whole party was the customized menus. I asked the restaurant to send me an electronic version of their menu, and then I themed it. I brought it into Photoshop and made it pink. Then I added the name of the event, and everyone got one. So, instead of using the basic menus you get at the restaurant, I created my own which tied into the whole Pink Flamingo theme. I know this is going a little overboard, but if you’ve got the design skills, why not? I LOVE a detail. Don’t you?
But really though, everyone remembers the little details. I feel like that’s an added touch.
Anyway, we’re sitting about a week out from the wedding, and I couldn’t be more excited for my best friend’s new adventure.
