HOW I GET PARTY READY IN UNDER 30 MINUTES.

The holiday season is a wonderful time, filled with all kinds of Christmas parties, events, press previews, get-togethers and dinners. I love it all. Although, some days I just want to sink into my couch with a bottle glass of wine and Netflix the shit outta my night. Know what I mean?

Like, you kind of need a vacation after the holidays because it can get so hectic…

Anyway, with all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I do enjoy every bit it. I also feel like over the years, I’ve mastered getting ready in under 30 minutes. As a female, we ALL know the struggle is real. Between shaving those legs/underarms, threading your brows, having your nails painted, curling your hair, winging your eyeliner, and actually picking out an outfits from head to toe (with the right shoes!) is a handful and can take hours.

But AIN’T NOBODY GOT HOURS FOR THIS SHEEAAT!

Between work, the blog, maintaining a clean house (I have anxiety if my kitchen table is a mess), and Insta-storing my ‘getting ready process’ I definitely don’t have hours to get ready. I need to be in and out in 30 minutes. (I’ve mastered putting make up on in the car, btw. As the passenger!)

It’s also highly annoying that men can be ready in 15 minutes max and start watching a Netflix show while you’re running around like a headless chicken, trying to steam your dress and curl your hair at the same time.

Anyway, like I said, I feel like I’ve got the ‘getting ready in under 30 minutes’ process down to a science now. And obviously, I want to share it with you guys, so that over the holiday season you’re not stressing. The holidays should be fun!

Here’s a few tips and tricks:

1. Invest in a good flat iron.

This is KEY. I was using the shittiest flat iron that I had since high school up until recently. I mean, it did the job, but it took double the time than my new flat iron. You need one that does both, curls and straightens. You also need one that heats up to 450 degrees because it works in seconds and you get the perfect curls. I know 450 seems a bit much, but I have thick hair and I need my iron hot. Obviously adjust according to your hair and don’t burn off your ends. LOL. My fave iron right now is this the Brocato Vibrastrait Iron.

2. Get a lasting mani/pedi:

Nothing is more annoying than having to paint your nails 20 minutes before an event. I’ve done it, and it sucks. I mean, I think we’ve ALL done that. #notchic. Instead, right before the holiday season – I would say early November – get a manicure and pedicure done. Like, a good one. Throw some money into it so that it lasts you. My manis can last me up to two weeks sometimes. TIP: get your husband/boyfriend to do the dishes and just always tell them that your nails are wet and you can’t ruin them. 😉

3. Pre-plan your outfits:

So, what I like to do is go through the ‘dressy’ section of my wardrobe and pull out the outfits that I think I might use over the holiday season. There’s a ton that I find in the closet that need to be donated, and a handful that I want to wear again. So I’ll mix and match some sparkly tops and skirts, pull out a few dresses for more formal occasions, and hang them together in my closet. When it comes time decide what to wear to an event, I usually decide the day before or the day of the event. I don’t like to decide on what to wear a week before…because hellllloo, I change my mind on these things! But at least this way, I kind of have a pool to choose from and I’m not pulling out everything from my closet and screaming “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!”

4. Make up – Keep it simple:

A little foundation, a little concealer, contour if you must, and some eyeliner. Oh, and obviously brows. I don’t get fussy with make up. I feel like no one will really notice if you highlight your face or not, you know? So, maybe skip that step if you’re in a real time crunch? I always keep a few lip colours in my bag, though! If you keep your eyes simple, you can do a bold lip, which can really dress up an outfit if you ask me.

5. Add some sparkle:

A little sparkle goes a long way. Trust me. You can never go wrong with some sparkle during the holiday season. I love adding some sequins or bold jewelry pieces to my outfits. Especially if you’re wearing an all black dress or something more subtle. Add a sequins bag to the outfit, or a headpiece, or some funky jewelry. Make your accessories your statement.

I feel like I needed to share those tips with you guys, because they’ve been working really well for me.
Do you guys have anymore tips you’d like to add to the list? SHARE.
How’s everyone’s holiday season going so far? I know it’s only just December, but I feel like the holiday parties started mid November this year.
And on another note, if you’re STILL on the hunt for Christmas gifts, head over to my gift guide. Lots of fun ideas for everyone. I finished up ALL my Christmas shopping this weekend, and now I don’t have to step foot into the mall until 2018. #WINNING.
Ps. Online shopping is also the wayyyyy to go.
K, I hope you guys have the BEST week ever. Happy Monday.
Xx, kim
