HEALTHY LUNCH IDEA: TUNA, ARUGULA SALAD.

healthy lunch

A few days ago, I posted this healthy lunch idea on my Instagram stories and you guys LOVED IT. I quickly turned that into an IGTV because I had so many requests for the recipe.

Guys, during this time, we need easy, quick and HEALTHY meals. Gyms are closed, people are sick, and we aren’t getting a lot of exercise. I mean, I’m doing small at-home work-outs, but let’s be real. The motivation is not there.

As we know, I’m all about balance. I like to eat as healthy as I can so that I can work-out less – if that makes sense…

Anyway, let’s get into this healthy lunch idea. You will DROOL.

I first discovered this easy tuna salad on Dan Levy’s Instagram account. Who else follows and LOVES him?! Schitt’s Creek is hands down one of my favourite shows, so naturally I am following him.

He mixed up tuna, cucumber and some Sambal ( hot sauce ) together. Which like, YUM, but I felt like it needed a bit more?

So I made my own version:

  • Canned Tuna – I love a flavoured tuna. Lately I’ve been using tomato and onion flavour.
  • Red onion
  • Avocado
  • Cucumber
  • Arugula leaves
  • Black olives
  • Magic seeds – which are sesame, hemp, flax, and chia. I bought those separately at Bulk Barn and mixed them together in a jar. So I just scoop out a bunch for ANY salad. They are SO healthy.

For the dressing:

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper
  • Honey ( or maple syrup )

Shake the dressing all together in a shaker. I use this one, it’s the best for salad dressing.

And then pour over your salad. SO GOOD. You can add chili flakes or hot sauce if that’s your jam.

Guys, this healthy lunch takes less that 5 minutes to make. The best part is, it’s got all this good stuff in it, so you don’t feel like you’re hungry in an hour. This salad actually keeps you full. You can also mix and match your protein. If you’re not a fan of tuna, you can add chicken, or whatever protein you like. I’ve just been obsessed with tuna lately.

The benefits of tuna:

  • Heart Friendly
  • Lowers Blood Pressure
  • Improves the Immune System
  • Weight Loss
  • Strengthens Your Bones
  • It Improves Your Skin Health
  • Prevents Risk Of Cancer
  • Provides Energy

You can’t go wrong with this salad! Trust me, try it!

Okay, what’s everyone making these days? Are you whipping up healthy lunches? Let me know in the comments.

Xx, kim
