Okay okay, let’s be clear. This water is nothing new. TONS of people have been drinking this for years now. But I want to share the recipe for the healthiest water to drink in the mornings.
For the new year, one of my resolutions is to drink more water. Since working from home, I feel like I’ve totally been slacking on my water intake.
I wake up and head straight for the coffee machine. My coffee machine also makes me coffee before I’m even awake, LOL. However, that’s all changing now.
First water, then coffee. If you’ve already been doing this, AMAZING. Good for you! However, I want to spice up your water.
The thing is, water can be so boring. It’s tasteless, and unless you’re dying of thirst, water is just meh. But I’m adding some major healthiness to my water these mornings, and of course I wanted to share that with you, plus all the benefits you’re getting from it.
The Healthiest Water To Drink:
- HOT OR WARM WATER (I usually boil water and throw in an ice cube to cool it down a bit)
- 1/2 A LEMON
- GINGER (As much as you want)
- 1/4 A TSP OF CAYENNE PEPPER
- 1/4 TSP OF TURMERIC
- OPTIONAL: MINT LEAVES, HONEY
I don’t normally add mint leaves or honey, mainly because I never have mint leaves on hand, and I don’t like my water sweet. I want it SPICY.
So, all you do is throw in your pieces of ginger (I like about half an inch, cut up into small bits) squeeze half a lemon, add in your cayenne and turmeric and then pour in your hot water. DONE. Healthiest water to drink in the mornings!
It’s SO easy and quick, it takes me less than 3 minutes to do all this.
Okay, let’s get into the benefits of each of these amazing superfoods, shall we?

Now that you know all the benefits to the healthiest water to drink, get to it! I have shared my morning routines with you guys on a few blog posts now. Check them out here, and here. But none of them included this healthy water. Sure, I’ve drank lemon water in the mornings. But THIS water is a game changer. You will notice it in your skin and your overall health. It’s definitely a waker-upper too.
Other things I’m doing to set the tone of my mornings are:
- Journal. I need to plan out my day properly. Pen to paper. So, while I’m sipping on my healthy water, I write out my to-do list. ( Shop my planner here )
- Meditation. This is another MAJOR goal for 2021. So far I’ve been doing a 5-minute guided meditation in the mornings, and have been loving it. It’s all about gratitude. I use the Insight Timer app.
- Breakfast that includes all the food groups. This is so important because you feel full longer when you incorporate all the food groups. I’ve been loving an oatmeal bowl with almond milk, almond butter, berries, walnuts, granola, cinnamon, and honey. SO GOOD!
So, anyway! Get in your healthy water every morning if you can. I feel way more energetic and clean when I drink this.
ALSO, hot tip!! You can drink this cold if you want. Make it in a giant pitcher and throw it in the fridge for a refreshing drink whenever you’re thirsty.
Enjoy!
Xx, kim
