Since chopping my hair, my haircare routines have drastically changed. And if I’m being honest, short hair is A LOT of work. I felt like when I had long hair, I didn’t have to style it as much. I could throw it up in a messy bun, and manage to still look “put together”. So I’m giving you guys a quick tutorial on curling short hair with a flat iron.
With short hair, there’s no getting away with not styling it. I mean, I’ve tried. I’ve tired the messy high-top bun, and there’s usually hairs falling out from under. I’ve tried the low bun, but with the layers I have, strands are peeking out.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is, don’t cut your hair short if you think you’re going to lessen your styling time in the mornings. NOPE. That is false news people.
However, where there’s a problem, I OBVIOUSLY have a solution. That’s just how I roll 😉
Introducing the vibrating flat iron that will change your life.
K, that sounded sexual in every way possible.
I mean, it IS a vibrator…but for your hair.
Let me tell you, up until recently I was using a flat iron that I bought at a random cell phone shop about 9 years ago. I’m not even making this up… It was on sale, I was broke, and needed a flat iron, K? So, I bought that, which was great at the time. You know, 9 years ago ceramic flat irons were all the rage. Don’t judge.
Anyway, I was complaining to my hairstylist, Jessi, about how long it takes me to style my hair in the mornings, and that I just don’t seem to have the time for it. So, I asked her to show me some quick tips on curling short hair with a flat iron, and when I pulled out my 9-year old flat iron, she looked at me like I was from Mars. With her judgy stares (LOL), I immediately knew that my flat iron was the issue. It wasn’t my short hair.
No really. This cut my styling time in half!
Ok so, I bet you’re all wondering WHY the flat iron vibrates….right?
- It vibrates 7,500 times per minute.
- It’s got high quality tourmaline plates.
- It seals in moisture & provides even heat distribution.
- It eliminates frizz.
- It heats up super quick!
- You can straighten and curl your hair in minutes. I’ve done both, and let me tell you, my hair is NOT easy to straighten. It usually takes me a full hour and a half to straighten my hair. With this flat iron, I’m done in about 30 minutes.
Life with short hair has become MUCH easier!
I’ve included a mini video below on curling short hair with a flat iron. It really is effortless, and anyone can do it.
Steps on curling short hair with a flat iron:
Step 1 – Part your hair. You need to make small sections so that you don’t overwhelm yourself. LOL
Step 2 – Start at the bottom and work your way to the top.
Step 3 – Grab your section and start curling OUTWARD from your face. This is important. Basically move your flat iron AWAY from your face as your curl. This will give you that effortless, beachy curl.
Step 4 – Don’t comb out your curls until you’re finished curing your entire head. You want to keep the curl as long as possible. So ONLY comb through them once they have cooled down.
Step 5 – Once you have finished curling all the sections, take a wide tooth comb and brush through gently. If you don’t have a wide tooth comb, you can use your fingers easily.
Step 6 – Once you’re happy with the way it looks, use an oil on the ends and then spray in some hairspray for texture and hold.
Easy right? Do you guys want to see more hairstyle content? Let me know!
