So, if you’ve been following along on Snap/Insta, you KNOW I’m just obsessed with anything Christmas-y.

I also mentioned this in my last post. Red holiday coffee cups + ugly Christmas sweaters + Mariah Carey blaring in my car. I mean, who doesn’t love All I Want For Christmas?? Best Christmas song EVER. I really don’t know what it is about this time, but everything makes me SO happy.

…except the extreme cold temperatures and malls. I HATE malls at this time.

People are so….aggressive? I do all my Christmas shopping, online. It’s the way to go, you guys! I don’t know WHY anyone would need to go into malls when we have everything online.

I’m a Netflix and add-to-cart kinda gal. It actually relaxes me.

Anyway, I’m getting off track here.Let’s talk about Christmas decorating!!

Considering this is my very FIRST Christmas in my new place, I really wanted to keep things, simple, but obviously chic.

I didn’t want it to look like Christmas threw up all over my place. For one, I don’t have the space for much. And two, less is more. I knew I wanted a tree (a mini white one), obviously. And I have a beautiful console table that I was going to decorate the shit out of.

And really, that’s it.

I had SO many ideas for the console table. Themes were running through my head. But I thought, let’s keep it classic and do a very simple white and silver, winter-esque table. My immediate thoughts were to do white and gold, but I felt that was too cliché and decided on white and silver instead.

Although, I did buy a crazy-beautiful, gold sparkly wreath. It’s perfection, really.

Okay, so let’s talk more about the console table. For anyone who lives in a condo, you know space is always an issue. For everything.

So, although I wanted to go full-out and decorate the entire place, I really couldn’t. And if you’re in the same position as I am, where space always gets in the way, you’ll love this post. Because even though all I did was decorate the console table, and add a mini tree to my place, it feels very much like Christmas.

If all you can do is decorate a console table, then these are a few ways to really killlll it!!

1. SNOW. Get lot’s of fake snow. We may hate actual snow, but we LOVE the fake stuff. ☃ You can get fake snow anywhere for super cheap, and it’s the perfect base for your décor. You can build on top of that. A huge roll is like $2.99 at Walmart.

2. ASYMMETRY. The trick to making asymmetry look good is, balance. You don’t want to have the table looking the same on both sides, but visually, you still want there to be some balance. There are SO many ways to accomplish this. Adding splashes of colour is one way to go. I’m not so much of a colour person, so I kept the colours neutral. I did however, use different shades of white, silver, and grey.

3. CANDLES. I mean, need I say more? My last post was ALL about how much I love candles, so naturally when it came down to decorating the table, I used as many candles that would fit on it. White and silver ones, of course.

4. PINE CONES. Another prop that screams Christmas. I found white spray painted pine cones that strung together at Homesense and wrapped that around everything that was on my table. Texture is really important, so find things that make your table stand out. And speaking of texture….

5. TEXTURE. Sequins, faux fur, sparkles, feathers, branches. Anything that adds something that your eyes catch immediately. I have pretty much all of the above on my table, minus the faux fur. Texture is another good way to balance out your table.

6. HEIGHT. Add different heights to your table. This goes with the asymmetry point above. It’s another way to make your table visually appealing. Instead of buying candles that are all the same height, buy a few different heights. I also bought sequins cones of different heights. It’s eye catching and visually pleasing. You don’t want everything to be the same height. I added a vase with all sorts of random things in there, from feathers to branches, and silver sparkly leaves. All are different heights.

7. PRETTY VS. PRACTICAL. There’s nothing practical about my table. LOL. I have to admit, I’m definitely not the most practical person in the world. So, sue me. If you can add practicality to your table, by all means, go for it! I’d just rather it be pretty. I’m not saying it can’t be both, practical and pretty, however, mine just isn’t. I filled my table with polar bears, pine cones, doves, poinsettias, an overload of candles, and a useless (but SO cute) sign that says ‘Love You.’

8. LIGHTS. You can’t call it Christmas if there are no lights. Amiright?! I bought a string of thin lights that I put under the “snow” to light up the table. It just gives it that added Christmas-y feeling.

Okay, so those are my eight ways of console table decorating.

For those of you who live in smaller spaces, how do you decorate? Come hang out on Snapchat (UN: kim-marquis) I’m all sorts of holiday funnnn!

Chat soon, loves. Happy decorating.

Ps. Throw on some Christmas Mariah or Britney when decorating. It’s THAT much more fun. ????

Xx, kim

I love decorating and this fake snow, and bears, and pine cones… but for the trees, I'm more for a green, more natural looking one 😀 although these gold and silver look cute, it's not a tree for me if it's not "real" and colorful 😀
