BEST WAY TO ORGANIZE YOUR DRESSER.

BEST WAY TO ORGANIZE YOUR DRESSER

Hi Hi Hi! We’re getting into a really good topic today – THE BEST WAY TO ORGANIZE YOUR DRESSER.

I feel like it’s been a while. I have been a little busy these past few weeks and took a nice long-weekend break this past weekend. MUCH NEEDED. Sometimes, you just need to unwind, disconnect, and then come back refreshed. No?

Anyway – let’s get into this post. It’s a goodie.

This is something I get asked A LOT. Not only by you guys, but also by my friends: “How do you stay organized with all the products that you get sent??”

Yes, I have products coming to me all the time. Skincare products, make-up, shampoos, conditioners, nail polish, curl creams, and the list goes on. This is a post on the best way to organize your dresser and products that I use daily.

A little back story first.

Once upon a time (not that long ago) my dresser was turning into a disaster. Like, shit everywhere. I was getting in so much make up and skincare stuff, and because I’m a human guinea pig, I wanted to try everything. You know I like to try them ALL and bring back the stuff I love love love to you guys on the blog. Only the best for The Chic Confidential community.

Anyway, my dresser was really killing me. I’m the type of person that NEEDS my space to be clean. A messy home is a messy life. That’s just my way of thinking. I can’t function when my home is a mess. I’m ANAL about the little things too. OCD to the maxxxx. Just ask Andrew. He’ll tell you about my spice cabinet, my white towel basket in the bathroom, and my kitchen counter that gives me anxiety if it’s not clean AF.

So, the same goes with my bedroom and dresser. My dresser needs to be clean and organized so that I can find stuff quickly and efficiently. Remember, I don’t spend hours doing my make-up. I’m the girl that’s GO TO GO. Always. My make-up in the mornings take me no longer than 7 minutes. (At most.) My nighttime skincare routine probably takes the longest. Because skincare is IMPORTANT. But you already know that.

So, here’s how I keep my dresser efficient. I love my clear containers, so we’re sticking to that. You guys need to get on board with these. They’re SO good for organizing your life. And the best part is, you can see everything! No one wants a container that you can’t see through.

The way I like to organize is bunching together the important stuff. So, the products that I use daily, stay in front. I need to see them, and they need to be easy to get to. The last thing I was is to go searching for something in the morning.

All my brushes are kept in one compartment. Obviously.

Then moving on to pencil eyeliners, mascaras, and liquid eyeliners. They’re all thin, long, and for the eyes, so they all go into one compartment. I like to turn the coloured liners upside down so that I can see the colours clearly. Again, keeping things efficient.

Eyeshadows are a bit tricky because they come in all shapes and sizes. I’m not huge on shadows, so I don’t have too many. Big palettes go into a draw as I don’t use them often. The eyeshadows that are kept on my dresser are ones that I use often enough. I keep them stacked to make room for everything else. The ones on top are the most used.

Bronzers, highlighters, and powders stay front and center. I use those most frequently. Beside these are a couple blushes that I like to layer on my face. Again, they go right beside bronzers, highlighters, and powders.

Foundations are kept further back. It’s not something I use everyday, so I don’t need them too close. I have about three foundations that I absolutely love, so all three are kept together in one compartment. They’ve all got different coverage, so I decide on what to use as I’m about to apply my make-up.

Sunscreens and primer get their own compartment.

Moving on to bobby pins, nail clippers and cuticle clippers. I use these pretty often, so they all go into one compartment, front and centre.

Mists. Oh, how I love my mists. I’ve got three that I absolutely LOVE.

  1. MAC’s Prep & Prime Fix+
  2. NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray
  3. Pixi Beauty Rose Water Mist

They all go in the same general area. If you guys are looking for good mists, these are it!! They’re all kind of similar but different in their own way. I would say if you had to choose one, go with NYX. You get that perfect glowy, dewy skin. I spray that on after I’m done my make-up, and it lasts me ALL day. No touch ups needed. Just how I like it. And it’s also like $12 bucks.

Moving on. Hair products. Okay, here’s where It gets a bit overwhelming. Because I have UNRULY, curly hair, I need a lot of products. I’m also always testing and trying out new ones, so I have to keep ALL of the hair products in their own clear container. They actually take up an entire one. I have everything in there: heat protecting sprays, dry shampoos, curl creams, frizz control sprays, hairsprays, etc. Lot’s going on.

Skincare. OH BOY. This is another beast. You guys know I take my skincare routines very seriously. It’s actually the most important container on my dresser. Because we always want to LEAD with our skin. Your make-up won’t matter if you don’t have good skin.

So again, everything is kept together except for my cleansers. Those are kept in another container in the bathroom. I have my toners, serums, oils, eye creams, moisturizers, and jade roller all kept together, so that it’s easy to access as I need them. My nighttime routine can be pretty extensive. This doesn’t take me too long anymore as it’s become a routine now. Do you guys want to see a video? Let me know in the comments.

Okay so to recap – the best way to organize your dresser is to get yourself some clear containers. Amazon has TONS. Sometimes you can get lucky at Winners/Homesense.

How do you guys organize? SHARE in the comments.

Psst – check out what beauty products I’m loving lately.

  1. I love this! What are the larger ones you use for bigger products? The hair care ones? I love these small ones too, I’ma get it all for my new vanity!

  2. I like your organization; it’s simple and efficient. I’m in the process of setting up my beauty table/corner in my bedroom and this is something I definitely want to do eventually (organize my makeup).

  3. I need that container! I pretty much keep all my makeup and brushes in a large basket with little baskets inside, but I like yours because it looks more organized. Thanks for sharing! Love it!
