You know there’s nothing I love more than sharing a product that WORKS. Which is why you need to know about the best Vitamin C drugstore serum!
And you ALSO know that I never share a product on The Chic Confidential that I don’t 100% believe in. The integrity of my brand is extremely important to me, and I just don’t bullshit. It’s really something that I’m known for actually. I’m a straight shooter, and I’ll tell it like it is, always.
If I like something, you’ll know. ( I don’t typically share things on the blog that I don’t like, solely because I don’t want to be a complainey, negative bitch. LOL). It’s just not the way I do things. This platform is meant to be positive and real. For products/services that I don’t like, I will usually just keep that shit to myself, and never recommend it. However, things I love, products that work, I will ALWAYS share.
Just remember though, products that I do share and work for me might not necessarily work for you. So, always do your own research.
On that note, let’s get into the best Vitamin C drugstore serum that I’ve recently come across. L’Oreal’s Vitamin C Serum. (not sponsored)
Let me backtrack for a second.
The other night, Andrew and I were doing our own things. He was in the kitchen whipping up some delicious dinner, and I was in the bedroom. I had just showered and was heavy into my nighttime skincare routine. I had been using the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Vitamin C Derm Intensives Pure Serum for almost 2 weeks. Now, I apply it twice a day – mornings after a cleanse my face, and nighttime after I shower. So, cleanse, tone, Vitamin C, and moisturize. During the winter months I may add some oils to this routine depending on how dry my skin is.
Anyway, we usually do our own things in the evenings, and then meet up on the couch for dinner around 7:30 pm. I get to the couch, and Andrew looks at my skin and says “wow babe, you skin is super shiny.” Well, we all know the word “shiny” in guy language means “dewy.” YESYESYESSSS.
LIKE, NOTHINGGGG GETS ME MORE TURNED ON THAN SOMEONE COMPLIMENTING MY SKIN! NOTHING.
You can tell me that I’m having a good hair day, or my eye shadow looks great, or my ass is looking more toned, which is all fine and dandy. But like, “your skin is looking dewy and youthful today” is like hitting the fucking jackpot.
Let’s just say Andrew doesn’t have an opinion on skincare, and that night he said something about my skin…
And the only new thing that I added to my skincare routine was the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Vitamin C Serum.
Immediately I ran to my computer, opened up the blog, and created a draft post titled “The Best Vitamin C Drugstore Serum” so that I wouldn’t forget to write a post on this.
Let me tell you more about this serum though. Because when I’m done here, you’ll all be running to the drugstore for this serum. Just trust me on this!!
It’s made with 10% pure Vitamin C, which is a lot. It’s tested by dermatologists and is free of parabens, dyes, mineral oils, and fragrances. Which is so key when shopping for a good skincare product. This serum was also tested on all skin types, including sensitive skin, which is what I have, and doesn’t clog your pores.
What I love about the serum is that you can use this in the morning before applying your make-up and you skin remains super dewy and fresh throughout the day. It brightens up your complexion and gives you that youthful glow. In about the first week you will notice a difference. Your skin will look more radiant and your skin will feel smoother. In week two of using this, I noticed fewer lines around my eyes. (Oh, and your significant other will notice your gleaming skin…)
Many of you message me about budget-friendly products, and this is one! Most high-end serums range from $80-$150 for a tiny bottle. The L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Vitamin C Serum is $30 bucks.
And the BEST $30 bucks you’ll ever spend.
Why is Vitamin C good for the skin?
Glad you asked – Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals. Vitamin C aids in your skin’s natural regeneration process, which helps your body repair damaged skin cells.
“Vitamin C serums are legendary for a reason: They really work. Uneven skin tone, rough texture, fine lines, acne scars, general dullness — you can name just about any common complexion concern and there’s a good chance that vitamin C (and the skin-care products it’s featured in) is a recommended treatment.” [ source ]
So, in the same way that consuming antioxidant-rich foods aids your body in fighting off free radicals, topical antioxidants do the same for your skin by helping to offset daily aggressors like UV damage and exposure to air pollution.
So, if you’re in the market for a new serum that brightens your skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, grab the serum now. Thank me later.
And since we’re on the topic of budget-friendly products, I thought a would share a few other drugstore products that I’m totally digging right now:
- This IT Cosmetics CC Cream. It’s an amazing foundation!
- This Hydrating Rose Spray. Wakes you the EF up in the mornings.
- Kopri Lip Scrubby. It’s for anyone with dry lips.
- Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick. I feel like it goes with every skin tone!
