Winding down is something that actually comes very naturally to me. I’m a very calm person, and I don’t let the stresses of life get to me. Because, aging…hello! I am totally able to just cut the BS of daily life out and find myself very peaceful and relaxed at nighttime. I’m sharing the best night time routine for face today.
It’s SO important to give yourself that nighttime wind-down sesh. You know? That alone time, where you can light a candle, sip on some lemon/ginger tea (which I’m obsessed with lately. btw), read a book, and then try to get a full 7-8 hours of sleep.
On average, most people are getting 4-5 hours, which in my opinion is NOT enough. Your body cannot feel rested that way. I need my 7-8, and I will do whatever it takes to get that. Don’t get me wrong. It is the hardest thing to get everything done and get your 7-8 hours, but if you truly believe in the greatness of sleep, you will make it happen.
Well, let’s be real here, I’m not a mother of 3 or anything, so I can’t speak for the busy moms out there…But I assume THAT can be tough!
The one thing I won’t compromise on, is my nighttime skincare routine. As mentioned before, the health of my skin is SO important to me, and I legit have a fear of aging. But we already know this….lol. Which is why I want to show you the best night time routine for face.
I take it pretty seriously, and even if I get home at a ridiculous hour, completely intoxicated, I will still manage to take off all my make-up and get through at least a few steps.
Ps. Ladies, please DON’T ever sleep with your make-up on. I know in our teens we thought it was okay to do so, but when you get to your 20s, it’s not funny. Take. It. Off. Your skin will thank you later.
Okay, so let’s go through what I’m actually doing for my face at night. Before I begin, let me tell you, this little regime is for my skin. It’s works for me, and I love it. It also doesn’t mean it’s for you. So give it a try, but make sure you’re doing what’s best for your skin.
THE BEST NIGHT TIME ROUTINE FOR FACE.
Step 1: Cleanse your skin.
I use Vichy’s ProEven foaming cleanser. I recently starting using this one, and I’m absolutely loving it so far. I’m not the type of person that will stick to one brand for all my products. I like to mix and match. This one is super smooth and moisturizing to the skin. It acts as a great make-up remover. Most of the time, I don’t even need to use a make-up remover before hand. This usually gets everything off. However, if you feel like you need to use a make-up remover, then go with a Coconut Oil. Just remember your coconut oil should be cold pressed, virgin, and organic. A little bit of that, and your eye make-up is gone!
Step 2: Toner
I’m not really fussy with the type of toner I use. And, I don’t use it every night. I kind of gage my skin and use it whenever I feel like I need to. Toning every night can really dry out your skin, so for those with dry skin, I don’t really recommend it. The brand I use is by Olay. I find that it really gets in there a removes all the make-up and dirt well, without stripping your skin of its natural moisture.
Step 3: Eye Cream
I’ve used many, MANY eye creams, and I have to say I love this one! The skin around your eyes is superrr thin and fragile, so finding the right eye cream for you can be difficult. I also love something that can brighten the skin around my eyes as dark circles can be a problem for me. This eye cream is 100% natural with organic coffee beans. It contains anti-aging vitamins, and is chemical free. So much yesss! It was introduced to me by my cousin from Aussie, who SWEARS by it. She gifted it to me while I was there, and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since!
Step 4: Moisturizer
The last step is sealing in everything you’ve done with a great moisturizer. The one I use, and love is by L’Occitane. Another amazing product also recommended by my Aussie cousin, (who btw has amazing skin). I love this one for many reasons: it’s very light on this skin, so not too oily, it’s great for anti-aging, makes your skin glow in the morning, it’s organic, and it smells amazing. Honestly, what’s not to love?!
Another moisturizer I use is Vichy’s ProEven overnight cream. I pretty much only use this on areas of my skin that I notice have uneven tones. It’s great for brightening as well.
Masks:
I know I’ve spoken about facial masks over and over again, so I’m not going to speak too much about this. It’s not an everyday thing, but do this at least once a week!
I know this seems like a lot of steps, but it’s really not. This is the best night time routine for face. You brush your teeth everyday, you put on make-up everyday, so include removing your make-up and taking care of your skin, daily!
Okay, what about you guys? Do you have a night time routine? Also, how do you wind down? SHARE!
The one thing I find SO hard is putting the ‘screens’ away…laptop, phone, etc. I’m always so active on social media and it takes a lot for me to actually put all that away and focus on a good book. With everything so readily available at your fingertips, ie. Netflix, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc, it can be so difficult! Trust me, I know! I’m with you. So, if you have any good tips for ALL of us, please, please share in the comments.
Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far!

Wonderful post. Taking your makeup off is super important. Getting sleep too. Although sometimes it is hard to. Haha. Drinking plenty of water too. I need to try that tea
Thanks Stephanie! And yes, sleep and water are SO important for healthy, youthful-looking skin!
And that tea is basically just slices of ginger, a couple slices of lemon, and hot water. 🙂
Great post Kim 😉 nothing more important for your skin than a good night routine. Trinette.
