BENEFITS OF REGULAR FACIALS.

BENEFITS OF REGULAR FACIALS

Okay, you guys should know by now…I’M PSYCHO about my skin. Like, there isn’t anything I would do if I knew it was going to harm my skin. So, today we’re chatting about the benefits of regular facials.

I’m mortified of aging, but who isn’t? I mean, I get it. We’re ALL going to age one day. And some people really welcome the wrinkles and crows feet and all. I, on the other hand, found three grey hairs last year and freaked out.

Just a TAD dramatic.

But for real, I’d really like for my skin to stay youthful. I do everything in my power to prolong healthy looking, youthful skin. This also has A LOT to do with what I eat on a daily basis. Lots of greens, garlic, avocados, berries, good oils, lemon, etc. Should I do a post on foods that are always stocked in my fridge? Might be funnn.

Anyway, water is also KEY for healthy skin. It’s probably the healthiest thing you can actually do for your skin. So, get in those 8 glasses of water a day. I like to add lemon to my water first thing in the morning and right before bed. Lemon water is GREAT for digestion, and a billion other things. But that’s another post all together.

Aside of water and eating as healthy as possible, getting regular facials are up there on the list for youthful looking skin.

I recently stopped into Cedarhouse Spa for a custom facial. Anna, the aesthetician, was wonderful! She was extremely knowledgeable when it came to the kind of facial I needed. She looked at my skin under one of those horrid white lights, and I held my breath as she examined it closely. Thankfully my skin was in good shape.

I mean, I would think so since I’m a psycho about it – weekly facial masks, ice rolling, mud masks, anti aging creams, etc.

After looking closely at my skin, she did notice a few blackheads around my face, and mentioned that those could be due to the dirt collected on the side of my cell phone. She went on to say that we don’t actually realize how gross our cell phones can be when we’re talking on them. Make-up rubs off on the sides, and we never clean them…

EW. Now that I know this, you can bet your ass I’ll be cleaning my cell phone every time I talk on it.

The custom facial I had was a Vitamin C facial. So this entailed a few things:

  • Brightening of the skin
  • Tightening of the skin
  • Anti-aging
  • Hydration
  • Evening out the skintone

All the things I LOVE, by the way. Hydration is my favourite. I have dry-ish skin, and I love, love, love, glowy, dewy skin. But you already know that. Have you ever looked at J-Lo’s red carpet looks? She always looks like she’s kind of sweaty in her face. But like, it’s not sweat. It’s DEW. And ugh, it’s good! SO GOOD.

So, whenever I get a facial, I always make sure of three key things.

  1. Hydration
  2. Anti-Aging
  3. Tightening

But if you’re already nice and dewy, and don’t really need anti-aging stuff on your face, there are different kinds of facials targeting different things. Acne prone skin, pigmented skin tones, oily skin, sensitive skin, etc.

Guys, I can’t stress how important it is to get facials regularly. I know they can be expensive, but invest your money into your skin, instead of designer handbags, because your skin is YOU. It’s with you forever. Trust me on this one. You’ll thank me later when you’re 40 and still getting ID’d. No better feeling, really! And get creative – like, get your boyfriend or husband to get you a spa gift certificate for your birthday instead of those shoes. 😉 Hint hint Andrew.

The benefits of regular facial are endless. Here’s a list on just a few of the benefits:

  • Unclogges your pores.
  • Extracts blackheads/whiteheads
  • Evens out your skin tone
  • Boosts and stimulates collagen
  • Tightens skin
  • Brightens skin
  • Massage for lymphatic drainage
  • Removes dirt from deeper layers of your skin
  • Kills bacteria
  • Helps with scarring
  • Exfoliates for a healthy glow
  • Alleviates stress

I can go on, but you get it, right? I feel like I’m much more cautious of my skin now that I’m 30. I mean, I’ve always been pretty good about washing my make-up off before I go to bed, applying the right serums/moisturizers, toning, sunscreen, etc.

But I’m definitely adding facials to my list. It’s a MUST.

Okay – your turn! Who goes for regular facials? What kinds are you guys into? And most importantly, are you conning your bfs/husbands into getting them for you? Send ideas.

Ok, I hope this was helpful! Let me know if you want more skincare posts. You know I LOVE a good skincare post.

Xx, kim

  1. I think I am long overdue for a facial! I use to be really good about doing a face mask / scrub every week and occasional steam bath, but I have been so busy that I have neglected my skin.

  2. I used to get facials regularly before I had kids. It was my splurge and I always felt fantastic. It’s been a few years since I had one and asked for a facial and massage for my birthday. Now I just need to book it! I have crazy dry skin too and have struggled keeping it looking nice these last few years.

If you don’t have a full day to pamper yourself with facials, just do masks! They are amazing, and a quick fix to hydrate your skin! xx
