As promised I’m bringing you my travel edition of skincare/haircare products I just CANNOT leave behind.
Let’s back track for a moment…
Here we are at the airport – Andrew, me, his entire family (!!) – and we’re about to go through security. Which is fine, because that’s what you do at airports, you know? I usually breeze through. However, this time the security lady stops me and my carry-on luggage is flagged.
BUT WHY?? I know for a freakin fact that all my liquids are under 100ml. Like duh, right??
Anyway, as I approach her, cool, collected, and confident that she will find NOTHING, she unzips my bag and begins to rummage through my shit. Like okay lady, let’s move it here, Andrew and his entire family (who btw I was traveling with for the first time) was waiting for me…
She pulls out my cute, very LARGE cosmetics case. I mean, I have a ton of skincare products that keep my skin looking youthful and radiant while I travel, of course. And she says, “Oh wow, what’s in here?”
So I tell her it’s all my skincare products, and they are all under 100ml, so what is the problem?
She unzips that one, and has a super judgy look on her face when she sees my skincare products. Like I was crazy for bringing this stuff on vacation with me…
Anyway, long story short, I told her those are everything I need for my skin and I need those to come through. She tells me that they need to all fit into two little ziplock bags which she hands over to me. WTF?! Half the products fit, and the other half I had to give Andrew, because he traveled with one product. His hair gel. THANK GOD.
She really didn’t get the importance of skincare.
The weird thing is I’ve never had an issue at the airport with my products or liquids, because I know the rules well. However, it seemed like this was a new one? Who knows. My products came through, and here we are.
Now, I’m not saying you should travel with ALL the products I’m telling you about today. I personally go a little overboard. But that’s just me. I felt like I needed 3 different sunscreens…
Okay, let’s jump into it!
Brocato VibraColor Hair Kit – This is the most efficient little travel bundle ever. Shampoo, conditioner, curl cream, and a mini hairspray. It’s PERFECT. No one wants to use the shampoo and conditioner that you get at the hotels. No thx. I bring my own, and it’s gotta be this one. I love this curl cream, so good for frizz, which is perfect in hot weather. And the perfect sized hairspray as well! The kit I bought was specifically for coloured hair because I didn’t want my colour fading from the sun.
Pro-Derm Gentle Cleanser – LOVE this one, because it’s made for sensitive skin, and it removes ALL your make-up leaving nothing behind. It’s such a good product. I also love that is doesn’t have a fragrance to it. I hate it when cleansers have floral scents. It just means that there are more ingredients and chemicals in it.
Biotherm Life-Plankton Elixir Serum – UGH, I’m obsessed with this one. I use it morning and night, and have noticed SUCH a difference in my skin. It’s a great anti-aging product, amazing for hydration, tightening and smoothness of the skin. Let me tell you, it’s just one of those products you need to get. I swear by it. Just trust me on this one.
IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce Moisturizer – I can hands down say that if you have dry skin and use this product, you will no longer have dry skin. I’m totally in love with how the product layers over my skin! My skin looks so much more youthful and radiant from using this. I cannot travel without this. The airplanes are SO drying is disgusting, that I NEED this when I travel. You just never know what the air is like when you travel to different destinations as well.
Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shield Sunscreen – SPF 50 and so fucking good! Guys, I’m obsessed with this sunscreen. So, whenever my skin felt a little dull, I used this one. It’s got a pearly finish to it, which makes your skin glow, and it’s got SPF 50 which will protect the shit outta your skin. It’s got a very light finish and is super breathable. Ugh, so so good!
Vivier’s Triple Protection Sunscreen with SPF 30 is AMAZING for your face, neck, and chest. I’ve been using it for quite some time now, and love love love it. Guys, if you’re not protecting your skin from the sun by now, I don’t even know what to tell you. When your skin is exposed to the sun, you get red blotches, discolouration, and hyperpigmentation in your skin. And like, NO ONE wants that. I used this one when I was wearing make-up on top. Make-up layers really well over this sunscreen. It’s not white, thick, or streaky.
AlumierMD Sheer Hydration Sunscreen – Okay, love this one because it’s tinted and SPF 40. So, when I didn’t feel like wearing any make-up I just used this one my skin and because it’s tinted it gave me a gorgeous glow.
Beauty Counter Mineral Sunscreen Mist – I was NOT kidding when I said I brought ALL the sunscreen. LOL. This one was for my body. I’m very particular about the sunscreen I use. (As you can tell) I love this one because it’s SPF 30 and water resistant for 80 minutes. So you can go in and out of the water. It’s a mineral sunscreen and a mist which is perfect for travel.
Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant – My ride-or-die deodorant! I have been using this one for years and love it. It’s a Monday Must-Have product and I’ve done and entire blog post on why I love it. It’s 100% natural and free of aluminum so no nasty ingredients are going into your armpits. I have tried and tested 947937856 natural deodorants, and I find that this one works the best.
Victoria Radford Eye Brightening Cream – If you’ve used this, then you KNOW! You know just how good this eye cream is. I’m a huge fan of all Victoria Radford products, but I LOVE her eye cream. She just gets it! It’s got a pearlescent tint in there so it instantly brightens your dark circles. Which is what we need all the time. Right??
Volition Apple Cider Vinegar Peel Pads – Okay, so these little peel pads are awesome when you don’t want to bring your giant bottle of toner. It kinds of does the same thing. Balances, exfoliates, brightens, and cleans your skin. I took 5 pads because I wanted it every other day. I don’t use a toner every single day on my skin because I don’t feel it’s necessary for me.
Design Me Hair Puff Me – I needed ONE more really good hair product for getting rid of oils, and the Puff Me is the BEST of the best. When you don’t feel like washing your hair, but it starts to get oily in the roots, use this! It’s amazing for volumizing your roots as well as getting rid of any oils. And it gives you this sexy sex-pot hair too. I love.
Okay, so yes, I took a ton of products. But I used them ALL, I swear. Like I’ve always said, I just don’t mess around with my skincare routines. I would rather take all this and tone it down on the clothing I bring. But let’s be serious, I don’t tone it down on anything. LOL.
What do you guys take when travelling? How extensive is your travel case? TELL ME, so that I’m not alone in this.
On that note, I’m off to cleanse, tone, serum, and moisturize. Using all of the above!
Oh, come hang out on Instagram. I’m always sharing products I love and try out.
