Okay, so it’s no surprise that I’ve literally been waiting for the Royal Wedding since BEFORE Harry and Meghan even got engaged.
I was up for Kate and William’s big day six years ago, so naturally I would be up at 4am for this one. (Andrew – highly annoyed by my alarm clocks…)
There’s something about Royalty and the Brits that I just LOVE – the culture, the lifestyle, the history of the Royal family, and obviously the fashion. (We’ll talk about this in a second)
But first, let me tell you how to throw a mini Royal party at 4am. Because I know you’re all DYING to know.
All you need are a few important things: Champagne, a little orange juice or grapefruit for a bougie mimosa (garnish with berries?), some cute fascinators, a rose gold three-tiered tray, mini scones or sandwiches, and strong internet to stream the wedding.
Anyway, here we are. 4:00 am. Mimosas. Fascinators. And I’m Insta-storying the shit out of Andrew. Again, being really annoying. LOL. Naturally this called for a blog post. So, now not only are we up at 4am, but now I also needed a little shoot of the whole mimosas in bed situation. Andrew is at his peak annoyance with me at this point. (This is how you test patience in a relationship).
Nonetheless, the photoshoot was quick and snappy. A little blurry if you ask me, but in all fairness, this was done pretty early. Thanks babe.
K, some quick British-style sandwich recipes for your three-tiered tray:
MINI CUCUMBER SANDWICHES:
Spread a thin layer of cream cheese or butter on white sliced bread, add peeled cucumber slices, and top with dill or parsley. Add salt and pepper to taste. Make sure you cut of the crust, just like the Brits. 😉
EGG & CHIVE SALAD SANWICHES:
Add some mustard, chives, dill and pepper to sliced white bread. Mix your hard boiled eggs with mayo and add. Throw some extra chives over the sandwiches. Again, cut your crust.
STRAWBERRY – CHICKEN SALAD TEA SANDWICHES:
Add cut up strawberries and mandarin oranges to shredded chicken with celery, green onion, mayo, and poppy seed dressing. Salt and pepper to taste.
Arrange the mini sandos on a rose gold, marble three-tiered tray and bring to bed.
- Orange or grapefruit juice
- Garnishes: berries, lemon, orange slices
- Champagne glasses
- Cute straws for sipping or maybe just for the Instagram photo…(let’s be real)
K, so I know all this was done for my mini Royal Wedding bedroom party, but in all seriousness, this can be done for an actual party. Think bridal showers, birthday parties, or just a classy girl’s night in. Who doesn’t want to wear fascinators and sip mimosas? I’d do that every day if I could. Maybe just not at 4am.
Okay, who else was just as crazy I as was and woke up to watch the wedding? I KNOW I WASN’T THE ONLY ONE! What did you guys think??
Let’s talk about the fashion for one second.
Meghan looked beautiful, but the dress…awful. I’m sorry, but it did not fit her well and I was highly disappointed. Her Stella McCartney reception dress was gorgeous, but again, didn’t fit well. What’s up with that?!
The Beckham’s and the Clooney’s were ON POINT. Ugh, I need Amal’s entire outfit, please & thanks.
The wedding was SO beautiful to watch and I would wake up at 4am and do it all over again if I could.
