Grey Days With SØSKEN Studios.

Okay, let’s just get straight to talking about this coat, because SHIT, it’s a winner. Tailored. Functional. Oversized. Chic.
I could actually keep going because this coat is nothing short of AMAZING. Amiright?!
SØSKEN Studios produces some of the most gorgeous pieces I have ever seen. If you haven’t been acquainted with this Canadian brand yet, you’ve been living under a rock. Really.

Marisa Minicucci, the designer behind the brand, is a brilliant woman. She understands women’s fashion and what women look for when searching for the perfect outfit. I was lucky enough to see her FW 16 collection at Toronto Fashion Week, and was obsessed with every single coat that came down that runway. I needed to have them ALL.

We don’t give enough credit to our Canadian designers these days. Who are incredible, by the way. I was in shock and a bit heartbroken when the news of Toronto Fashion Week being canceled, came out. I have been attending fashion week for many, many years, and it was sad to hear that there was a lack of financial support.

Do we not believe in Canadian fashion anymore?

Certainly, with designers such as Marisa Minicucci, David Dixon, Lucian Matis, Joe Mimran (just to name a few of my favourites) we MUST still believe in Canadian fashion. No? Their brilliant work needs to be seen, showcased, published, photographed, blogged about.

It’s important to support our local artists as much as we can. We need to realize the economic importance of reviving and rebuilding our local fashion industry. The last thing we want is for our designers to leave us for perhaps another country because we’re not supporting them enough.

I was THRILLED to hear that Toronto Fashion Week is coming back! Peter Freed of Freed Developments, has bought Fashion Week, and is coming back with something bigger and better. This actually makes me very happy. Not only does this show that we still DO care about Canadian fashion, but also that we’re a trendy city, and can’t do without a fashion week.

Okay, that’s my mini rant on Canadian fashion.
On another note, I’m halfway through my juice cleanse, and it’s been REAL.
Real hard. ( follow on insta @thechicconfidential )
It’s not easy pounding back 4-5 juices a day. I mean, I didn’t think it was going to be easy, but I also didn’t think it was going to be this tough.
I do feel amazing though, and can’t wait to share the entire experience with you guys, in a post. Pulp and Press, which is who I’m doing the cleanse with, has some really amazing juices. Spicy Lemon is one of my faves, because it’s got apples, a shit ton of lemon, ginger, and turmeric in it. I basically make this at home, whenever I can. Except I also add cayenne pepper to make it extra spicy. Mmm.
Okay, I’m off to binge some Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve only JUST start watching it and cannot believe that I was missing this show all my life…where have I beeeeen??
Okay, ciao!
