Dressing For Success.

If there’s ONE rule to live by, it should be to dress for success.
I know it’s the cheesiest line ever, but in other words, dress for your dream. fucking. job.
It’s something I’ve always lived by, and something that’s very important to me. Most days I’m working in an office setting because other than blogging, you guys know I’m an events coordinator. Does that mean I need to wake up and pant-suit it everyday? Hell no.
My job may be set in a corporate office, but the environment screams creativity. If I wore a pantsuit everyday, I’d get nothing done. Really.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with a pantsuit. There are some pretty chic ones out there. I’m just saying, you wouldn’t catch me in one everyday.

But let’s talk more about dressing for success.
Believe me when I say, there are days I’d rather stay in bed, pajamas on, coffee delivered, and cuddled in with my laptop. But, when it comes down to everything, the best way to be productive, is to get up and get dressed.
Aside from working at the office Monday to Friday, I’m also working full-time on my blog. So, when I’m not at the office, I’m home writing blog posts, editing, coming up with content, or out shooting for the blog. When you work from home, it’s easy to say f*** it, and stay in pjs all day. But, what you’re not thinking about is how much you’re hindering your creative side.
The best way to get creative and start your day, is by putting on something super chic and feeling great in it. There’s no greater feeling than putting on the perfect outfit and kicking ass.
….okay maybe if you’re a mom and gave birth to a child. That could possibly be a greater feeling. But who knows?
All I’m saying is that, if you think you can accomplish shit in sweatpants and a t-shirt, you may be right. However, dressing the part, putting a little effort into your outfit, will get you that much further.

We ALL aspire to be successful in our careers. Right?
No one should be waking up and doing something they don’t like. I wake up every morning, (kinda hate mornings though) and look forward to the day. Why? Because I absolutely love what I do.
A big part to starting my day off is putting on something that makes me feel great. There are days where it’s -30 and blizzarding outside. And those days, you really can’t wear anything chic, but most days, I take the time, usually the night before, to choose something that makes me feel successful. Something that screams #bosslady. Something that brings out my creative side. And most importantly, something that’s on brand with The Chic Confidential. I am my brand.
No one wants a blogger who’s off-brand. Right?
Put a little effort into your choice of clothing, and watch what happens. You will instantly feel great. I, personally love getting dressed up. Even if it’s something simple and very corporate, I try and add something to the outfit that makes it me.
Something as simple as this grey sweater (on sale!) with an attached blouse, is a corporate-classic. I love a flared pant for the winter, and fringe for me, never goes out of style. It’s a staple in my wardrobe.
How many of you dress for success? What are your wardrobe staples?
Okay, I’m off to binge watch How To Get Away With Murder. Season Two is INSANE.
