Books For The Month Of April.

So, anyone who says they have no time to read is just bullshitting, because we ALL have time do that. Unless you’re President Obama, you have NO excuse! (and I’m sure even he does a bit of reading everyday…)
It’s all about time management, and how you organize your day. I have been one of those people who used to say ‘I don’t have time to read…,’ but really, it was more like ‘I don’t care to make time to read.’
Well, that ALL changed a few years ago, when I started picking up genres/books I truly enjoyed.
Remember in high school they used to make you read the most BORING shit of life? Sorry but, To Kill A Mockingbird? Ugh, that was torture and a half! I don’t know why they never just let us pick our own books. Makes sense to do that, no? #HighSchoolProblems
Anyway, Simon & Schuster were kind enough to send me three books that I know I will ABSOLUTELY love!
I’m sharing them with you guys in case we all want to get on these books for the month of April. Plenty of time to order them, and get started. Kinda like an online book club?
Okay, so I’m breaking them down for you:
At Home: Sarah Style

Following the bestselling success of Sarah Style, HGTV star and design queen Sarah Richardson invites readers into the homes she’s most proud of designing—her own!

Renowned designer Sarah Richardson guides readers through a variety of houses—from urban spaces, to secluded farmland getaways, to the islands of cottage country—that all showcase her signature style of casual elegance and nature-inspired design. In addition to the hundreds of design tips and never-before-seen photos—including many from Sarah’s personal collection—there are forty-five beloved recipes that reflect Sarah’s design style: comforting, fun, and meant for sharing. This is a behind-the-scenes tour that will inspire readers to achieve winning style on any budget.

I can’t wait to get my paws on this book, because who doesn’t love home decor?? I’m in the midst of condo shopping, so this is kinda perfect for me.

Tuesday Nights in 1980 by Molly Prentiss

Welcome to SoHo at the onset of the eighties: a gritty, not-yet-gentrified playground for artists and writers looking to make it in the big city. Among them: James Bennett, a synesthetic art critic for the New York Times whose unlikely condition enables him to describe art in profound, magical ways, and Raul Engales, an exiled Argentinian painter running from his past and the Dirty War that has enveloped his country. As the two men ascend in the downtown arts scene, dual tragedies strike, and each is faced with a loss that acutely affects his relationship to life and to art. It is not until they are inadvertently brought together by Lucy Olliason—a small town beauty and Raul’s muse—and a young orphan boy sent mysteriously from Buenos Aires, that James and Raul are able to rediscover some semblance of what they’ve lost.

SoHo in the 80s and artists….I was sold immediately!
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. About the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity.

The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Deals with a different pain. Heals a different heartache. milk and honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.

This book seems like the real deal. No bullshit. Which of course, I love! Real pain that we ALL have dealt with at some point in our lives, whether it may be heartbreak, death, or whatever. The point is seeing the good through the bad. CAN’T WAIT for this one!

Alright guys, there you have it!
I’m just finishing up another book and will get to these starting April!
