World MasterCard Fashion Week 2013

Besides Christmas, Toronto Fashion Week is one of my favorite times of the year! Being such a fashion guru, and a bit crazy about Canadian talent, this would be my 5th year attending fashion week. I absolutely love everything about it, from the fashions on the runway to the street fashion. Everyone really gets into the groove, and dolls up for the shows. Some get a bit crazy with outrageous hairdos, and fabulous pieces of accessories, and I love it all!

But most of all I love see thing the talent every year that Canadian designers offer us, so here were some of my favorite Spring/Summer 14 shows this year:

Pink Tartan:

I adore everything about designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran! Pink Tartan has always been a show that I have enjoyed watching. This year once again, she had a beautiful collection. The 1960s inspiration worked very well including lots of whites, black and white stripes, neons, and and few floral pieces.

Loved the length of the skirts, very 1960s! Overall the collection was super chic and wearable! Great job Kimberley!

David Dixon:

David Dixon, another brilliant designer, who had a beautiful collection using soft fabrics, such as lace, chiffons, and silks. The collection was very sensual and “romantic”. I loved the flow of the dresses, and skirts used. A stunning collection!

Sid Neigum:

Toronto-bred designer, Sid Neigum closed the second day of Toronto Fashion Week, and what a fabulous collection it was! Love the architectural design of the pieces, lots of cut outs, and a great colour palette!

Matthew Gallagher:

Matthew Gallagher, a designer that I have seen for the first time really blew me away! I really enjoyed the soft pale colours that were used throughout the collection along with the long flowy-ness of the dresses and skirts. The cuts were done brilliantly, and the sunglasses on the models really added to the show! There were definitely some pieces that I wanted to add to my closet!

Great visuals for the final walk!

Joe Fresh:

Once again, Joe Mimran did not disappoint! With his Asian-inspired collection he showcased some absolutely beautiful pieces. Lots of silk suits, pops of colour, and beautiful fabrics were part of this collection. Great job Joe!!

And lastly, I would have to say that the one show that I enjoyed the most at Fashion Week this year was Target! I had no idea what to expect when I heard that Target was showing for the first time at WMCFW, so I was very curious to attend the show. And boy was I glad I did! From the entire setup of the room, to the chirpy holiday music, and models, the show was a HUGE success. The entire room was bobbing heads the the lovely sounds of Mariah Carey and other holiday music! The show also opened with supermodel Erin Wasson! (Omg, we all died a little!)

The Holiday collection was fabulous! From prints like houndstooth, polka dots, and stripes, to some bold colours, the collection was just wonderful and wearable!

It even snowed at Target!
And of course the lovely Erin Wasson and Target dog, Bullseye closed the show along with all the other models! Definitely one of my favorite shows of the week!!

Well, that wraps up my recap of World MasterCard Fashion Week 2013! Please comment and share with me what shows you liked (or didn’t!) I would love to hear it!
