Authentic Italian food, floor to ceiling windows, modern and futuristic design, and an eggplant parmesan that’s “banging!” This my friends, is the gorgeous Via Vai restaurant at the corner of Bay St. and Grosvenor, in Toronto.
I cannot begin to tell you what a beautiful place this is! I mean, just look at the photos…they kinda speak for themselves. I’m obsessed with an all white setting. So naturally, I was drawn to this restaurant the second I saw the white leather couches, tables, and the natural light that the entire place is filled with.
When you visit this restaurant, (because you will) be sure to have a look at the amazzzing mural and wine rack! I’m a lover of all things artsy, and the stunning mural that pretty much takes over a good chunk of the restaurant, took my breath away!
Aside from this restaurant being absolutely stunning in every possible way, the food was also great! (BONUS!) Haha.
The one thing I can’t get enough of is wood burning pizzas. I’m seriously obsessed with them. I think this is the food I would request if it were my last meal ever…
Marinara Pizza: Arugula, parmesan cheese, prosciutto, and spicy olive oil. Okay hold on. I actually take off the prosciutto….and give it to someone else who eats pork.
What? I know, you guys think I’m crazy. I don’t eat pork. Not for religious reasons, and no I’m not vegetarian, but because I genuinely don’t like the taste of pork.
Lol, so yes, my pizza only contained the arugula, parmesan cheese, and spicy olive oil. #YUM.
My girlfriend had the All’Anatra pizza (below), which had Duck confit, pear, and stracchino. Also delicious!
But, what seriously blew me away, was this Parmigiana di Melanzane: Eggplant, fior di latte, ricotta, basil pesto, and tomato sauce. Uhhh!!
By the way, this is only on their dinner menu (which they need to add to their lunch menu asap!) Our darling-of-a-waiter was kind enough to ask the chef to make this for us at lunch, as I had heard so much about this dish, and pretty much came here for that.
Needless to say, the eggplant parmesan was “banging!” (We had an English waiter. His word. That I’m now stealing.)
Okay, so anyone from Toronto, or those just visiting, put Via Vai on the list!! It’s a must see, must eat-at place!
The service was great, food was amazing (I need to go back for brunch), and overall the atmosphere was incredible. If you love a good mix of it all, try this place out. You won’t be disappointed. Also, this is a great date night spot.
Also, I’m open to hearing other restaurants in Toronto that are great! I love suggestions on these kinds of things, so please leave any great recos in the comments!
++ I’m always looking for more amazing wood burning oven pizza places! Can’t get enough of them!
